TEMPLES AND TUNNELS

We arrived in Vietnem the day befroe yesterday. It is very different from Malaysia. The food here is also different and very good. It is still hot and it rains every day.

We went on a full day tour around Vietnam yesterday. We started at 8 am and went to a factory that is kind of like OTC. The people are there because they have physical disabilities from the Vietnam war. The USA put gas called agent orange into the tunnels that made the people very sick. The US wanted to kill all the veitnam comunists. So they put this gas all over and it has hurt lots of people and so these people are working here and lots of them are in wheelchairs and stuff.

They make all sorts of pottery and decorate it with egg shells and paint and sand. They are really beautiful.

Then we went to a temple. It is a big temple and lots of people were praying.

The temple was decorated with lots of different colours and carvings. The people wore different colours of dress. It looked like the people wearing yellow, blue and red were higher up in importance than the people wearing white.
Then we went to the Chu |Chi tunnels that the VC people dug so they could hide from the US soldiers.
The tunnels are 200 km long underground. They lived in these tunnels sometimes for 4 years. The tunnels are very dark and small. They could go from Ho Chi man city, Saigon river and all the way to Cambodia.

There is a secret door into the tunnels that the VC's used to escape. Can you find it?

Our guide opened up the secret hidden trap and it was very small. It was 10 x 14 inches wide.

It was very dark down there.

We could go in it and crawl along the tunnels to the other exit.

Colton and I crawled along it and there were 2 bats in there and it was completly dark. The bats flew into us and I touch both of them. I screamed!

There was a old US M1 tank. It got stuck in here. It was used to hurt the Vietman people.

We also walked through another bigger tourist tunnel.

We tried a snack of a traditional VC supper. It was tapioca root and crushed peanuts. It tasted like cold potatoes.I liked it.
